Drop 3

Think about it: Mayawati agrees to a Manmohan Singh (or a Rahul Gandhi, or an Advani) becoming PM for two-and-a-half years only if she is given the first shot at the balance period.

No, not my own musing, this is from Rajdeep Sardesai's article in Hindustan Times. But won't it be amusing to watch it, especially the way events unfolded in Karnataka.

Cricket and everything Indian do have similarities. Well with the captain hailing from Ranchi, may be our PM can be from some part of rural UP, Bihar, who knows. And may be just like 5 day test matches made way for ODI which in turn will give in to 20-20 cricket, instead of a 5 year term we can see 20 months stints for PM.
Or having a separate captain for ODI and other for Test match, but then we already have that isn't it: Sonia Gandhi and Man Mohan Singh :-)

dude,
stretching 20-20 to politics is a bit too far. we have already experienced the shortened version of governments during the coalition years in 89-91 and 96-98 periods.
also, remember that dhoni was not made captain because he was from rural india, but because he has the capabilities; and he has the acceptance; and also probably coz of the TINA factor.
which more or less sums up the criteria for choosing our PM too. :)
